Circa 1740

D’Quandray “The Stud” Tyson is a national sports hero who isn’t a team player in life; however, he gets a crash course in humanity when he’s transported through time and lands in 1740s Jamestown, Virginia. His “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality is challenged the moment he arrives in slavery. What he experiences there has a profound impact on the way he views himself, everyone around him, and everything he thought he knew about life. Shown tremendous grace by the village of enslaved people who live on the Lester plantation, D’Quandray is forced to confront his former self, no longer ignorant to the ugliness of that horrific time in American history. The subtleties of racism no longer escape him. With a full understanding of what it means to be a “stud,” he is forced to make decisions that alter relationships forever. Will he mute himself to blend into society as it exists, or will he audaciously live his life—with no regard for the fragile egos who work so hard to oppress Blacks—so that he could effect change for his people?
